Jacques Villon
These delightful 1959 tipped-in plates are from Cent Croquis 1894 - 1904, a portfolio of his early work, which was produced in Paris.
Croquis comes from French and means simply "quick figure sketch". With this type of artwork an artist simply does not have time to draw all the details of a live model, so they concentrate instead on the important elements of their subject.
