Paul Klee

Paul Klee (1879 – 1940) was a Swiss-German artist. His highly individual style was influenced by movements in art that included Cubism, and Surrealism and Expressionism.  As an Expressionist with the Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider), he taught at the Bauhaus making fantastic, childlike, and witty works.

His prints illustrate his evolution from traditionalist to one of the most daring and personal masters in Modern Art. His earliest prints and etchings were executed between 1903 and 1905.

These 1947 reproductions are from these and later etchings and lithographs. They were produced in an edition of 2,000 by the Meriden Gravure Company and the Golden Eagle Press. The colour plates were reproduced in stencil.
